In Vancouver, Canada during 1997, Sacha Asfar had an idea to bring city maps to the visitors in a way never seen before, thus enabling businesses to feature on the maps. These maps were developed from aerial photographs taken live from a small aircraft. We hired a Cessna 172 and aerial photos were taken of the cities. These photographs were then used by our expert designer Brad Olthof to draw our maps as true to life as possible in the most recognisable realist illustrations ever produced. Mobimaps was born. In 2006, Edinburgh and St Andrews were the first two cities to be added from the UK.
